Coteaux Champenois

Coteaux Champenois

(AOC for Champagne's still wines)

The AOC covers the same area as the Champagne AOC and the grape varieties are the same Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Coteaux Champenois can be white (blanc) or red (rouge), and is generally of a single-village or a single-vineyard Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier or Chardonnay. Coteaux Champenois is largely produced by smaller winegrowers who also make their own wine, in contrast to most Champagne houses.

These still wines are very special and rare as they are produced in very small quantities, and only in exceptionally good years. Coteaux Champenois (blancs) and (meunier rouge) are even more rarely available and thus very much sought after.
